Summary

Your new company

A public sector shared legal service operating across North West London and the Home Counties is seeking an experienced housing litigation lawyer to join a Local Authority's civil litigation team on an initial 3‑month rolling contract, with an immediate start desired.


Your new role

You will play a key role in supporting the ongoing development of a specialist public law practice, working closely with Team Leaders and Service Managers. The role involves advising a diverse client base and managing a substantial caseload of civil litigation matters, with a strong focus on housing-related work.Your responsibilities will include:

  • Managing and conducting housing disrepair, housing, homelessness, and wider civil litigation matters
  • Providing advice and representation in court, including advocacy where required
  • Advising officers and elected members in a proactive and politically sensitive manner, including in public forums
  • Attending meetings and court hearings, occasionally outside normal office hours

This role offers the opportunity to work independently within a specialist team while contributing to the strategic development of the wider legal service.



What you'll need to succeed

You will be a qualified solicitor or barrister with significant experience in civil litigation, particularly housing matters (including disrepair, homelessness, and judicial review), and advocacy.
You will also have:

  • Specialist knowledge of English law and civil litigation practice and procedure
  • Knowledge of local government law, equalities law, and data protection
  • A proven ability to work independently while contributing positively to a team environment
  • Excellent communication skills and confidence representing clients in court

What you'll get in return
