Summary
A Vacancy at Lancashire and South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust.
This is a community role, covering the Fylde and Wyre locality, so must be able to travel independently of public transport. There is also an expectation to travel to other localities if needed. We are looking for a highly motivated and a conscientious team player who has excellent communication and clinical skills, looking to support development of the OT role within the Children’s community learning disability team.
The Children’s Occupational Therapy Service within the learning disability service strives to provide forward-thinking high-quality services, working in partnership with other agencies. In addition to working with children and young people with learning disabilities, we work closely with their families. We have a strong commitment to health promotion through service development and training initiatives.
The post holder at band 6 level will be expected to provide comprehensive Occupational Therapy assessment and interventions with an aim to support, maintain and/or restore occupational functioning.
The team is hoping to find an OT who is adaptable, highly motivated, with excellent communication skills and who is as passionate about working with young people with complex needs. The post holder will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team, providing Occupational Therapy assessments, evidence-based interventions and support to young people with learning disabilities and their families and carers.
Our work involves, supporting families with sleep difficulties, self-care tasks, understanding their child’s sensory needs and supporting engagement through meaningful activity. This may be through parent workshops or working directly with young people and their families. Through such an approach we are continually learning, developing and findings different ways of working, to meet the needs and wishes of the individuals we work with.
We are a multi-disciplinary team of LD nurses, psychologists, psychiatrists, and nursery nurses. We provide specialist assessments to understand a young person’s needs and work together to support these, including individual or group-based approaches.
We work Monday to Friday between the core hours of 9am until 5pm. The Occupational Therapy team works within locality teams across the Lancashire and South Cumbria area and team working with our MDTs is important to us! The role includes agile and office-based working and Lancashire and South Cumbria Foundation Trust offers flexible working opportunities to support staff well-being.
