Job Overview

We are currently recruiting for a reliable and hands‑on General Maintenance Operative (GMO) to work within a commercial building in the WC2 area of Central London. This is a permanent, Monday to Friday role with a reputable SME facilities management provider, supporting day‑to‑day maintenance operations across a professional commercial environment.

This position would suit a General Maintenance Operative, Maintenance Operative, or Facilities Assistant with experience in commercial buildings, offices, or FM environments, looking for a stable, long‑term role in Central London.

Key Responsibilities

Carry out general maintenance tasks within a commercial building
Assist with basic reactive maintenance and planned preventative maintenance (PPM)
Undertake minor repairs, fixes, and fabric maintenance
Carry out basic carpentry, painting & decorating, patch repairs, and snagging works
Support engineers with maintenance tasks as required
Assist with room setups, furniture moves, and small compliance tasks
Ensure building areas are kept safe, clean, and presentable
Report faults and complete basic job reports using the CAFM system
Adhere to all Health & Safety procedures and site policies

Candidate Requirements

Previous experience as a General Maintenance Operative or Maintenance Operative
Experience working within a commercial building, office, hotel, or facilities management environment
Basic understanding of building fabric and general maintenance tasks
Practical, hands‑on approach with good attention to detail
Able to work independently and manage your daily workload
Good communication and customer service skills
Reliable, punctual, and well‑presented
