Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated, experienced, dynamic and inspirational senior midwife to lead the Pregnancy Assessment Unit at Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital (NSECH). The unit is open 24/7 assessing and treating pregnant women who attend hospital with pregnancy related complications or concerns.
You will need to be able to demonstrate the requisite level of competencies at band 7 and provide evidence of on-going professional development. Further education is encouraged, including support to attend relevant courses to maintain personal and professional development to meet service needs. We offer comprehensive in-house training packages as well as having strong links with local Universities.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the daily management of the Pregnancy Assessment Unit, including;
• Providing leadership to the multidisciplinary team
• Planning and implementation of flexible staff rosters and annual leave
• Maintenance of adequate staff levels and skill mix
• Environmental assessments
• Encourage and support innovative practice and multidisciplinary teamwork
• Lead in development of clinical audit and guidelines
• Lead in incident investigation and care reviews
• Development of staff
• Monitoring of staff wellbeing at work
• Budget management
