Summary


Guy’s and St. Thomas’ pharmacy departments are one of the largest and most renowned pharmacy within the UK.
The pharmacy procurement team are a centralised service who purchase medicines to the value of £130million per annum.

The Lead Pharmacy Technician Procurement & Homecare is a key role within the department managing and leading the daily operations of the Procurement and Homecare functions at Guy's & St. Thomas with emphasis for this post holder in the service section of Homecare Services

The provision of professional leadership and advice on all matters of pharmacy purchasing & homecare.
To manage the Homecare Team on a daily operational basis and support the section lead in Procurement in their absence.
To ensure the cost effective purchasing and supply of pharmaceuticals.
Ensure efficiencies are identified, delivered and recorded and financial losses are minimised.
To cover for the Medicines Procurement Specialist during their absence.
Assist the Medicines Procurement Specialist and the Head of Pharmacy Operations with the development and implementation of pharmacy objectives & the service development plan relating to Purchasing, Homecare, and Stores & Distribution.

Key responsibilities for the role is the Leadership, Strategy and Service Development in Procurement and Homecare functions, adhering to Governance and Data Management compliance.

The post holder will be a successful staff manager developing training strategies identifying gaps within the establishment for service improvement.

This role is vital in the identification and strategical planning of medicines optimisation, coordination of biosimilar and generic medications switching programmes and the improvement of pharmacy system Homecare pathways, therefore a direct link to clinical leads is essential maintaining good communication and relationships at all pharmacy and other interdepartmental levels.
