Summary
Stoughton Infant School - Learning Support Assistant
Job Purpose: To support the class teacher in promoting the best possible progress for children with Special Educational NeedsContractual Hours: This is a term time only permanent position - 39 weeks per year - 15.25 hours per week term time only - Wednesday 11.15am to 3pm, Thursday and Friday 8.45am to 3pm.Salary: LPT3 - £13.43 per hour - £9,268.43 per annumKey Accountabilities and Key Tasks:Supporting the ChildrenEstablishes a positive and supportive relationship with the childrenSupports pupil’s learning so they can make the best possible progressRemains calm in times of challengeEncourages independenceEnables inclusion and integration of all children regardless of their need, disability or disadvantagePromotes and reinforces pupil's self-esteem and confidenceProvides feedback and engages in professional dialogue with the teacher about the childrenSupports children in their social, emotional and spiritual development, in line with British valuesEncourages positive behaviour, including behaviour for learningSupervises children during break and lunchtimes and facilitates games and activitiesLiaises with advisory and outside agency staff about childrenAssists children with wider opportunities, such as educational visitsAssists children with their toileting needs and self-care in-line with the intimate care policySupporting the Teacher
Prepares resources to support learning activities and promotes progressMonitors and evaluates progress and provides feedback on this to the class teacher, this can be through feedback of children’s work and the use of Tapestry (online learning journal)Supports the teacher in delivery of learningSupports the teacher in providing an engaging and well organised learning environment (both inside and outside)Maintains strict confidentiality in and outside the workplaceSupporting the School
Is aware of and complies with the procedures relating to safeguarding, health, safety and security, confidentiality and data protection; reporting all concerns to an appropriate personEmbraces the collective responsibility to make the school the best it can beLiaises, advises and consults with colleaguesTakes responsibility for the care and organisation of shared resources, such as outdoor play and pe equipmentAttends relevant in service training and takes ownership of professional developmentThe duties above are neither exclusive nor exhaustive and the post holder may be required by the headteacher to carry out other appropriate duties within the context of the job, skills and grade.
