Senior Quality Manager

The Role

We’re the @one Alliance – a ground-breaking collaboration between Anglian Water and seven industry-leading partners: Balfour Beatty, Barhale, Binnies, MMB, MWH Treatment, Skanska and SWECO. Together, we deliver over half of Anglian Water’s capital investment programme.

As we ramp up into AMP8, our most ambitious period yet, we’ll be delivering an even broader range of innovative and environmentally-driven infrastructure projects – from urban drainage to nature-based solutions like constructed wetlands.

The Senior Quality Manager for Central Operations provides enterprise-level quality leadership across the Alliance, ensuring that the systems, standards, governance and insights required for consistent quality delivery are clearly defined, maintained and continuously improved.

The role enables Business Unit Quality teams by establishing the frameworks, readiness criteria, analytics and assurance rhythms within which delivery quality is executed. By translating alliance-wide insight into clear actions, the role supports early risk identification, reduction of systemic defects, and confident progression through commissioning and asset handover.

Working across Predictive Insights, AMS & Audit, Design Assurance and Supplier Quality, the role ensures lessons learned are rapidly embedded into standards and that quality performance improves consistently across programmes and partners.

Key Responsibilities

  • Providing enterprise‑wide leadership of Central Quality functions, setting clear frameworks, standards and ways of working for Business Unit Quality teams
  • Operating the Alliance quality assurance cadence, translating predictive insight, audits and assurance findings into clear, prioritised actions
  • Defining and governing cross‑Alliance quality readiness criteria aligned to Delivery Milestones through Detailed Design, Construction, Commissioning, Operational Handover and Financial Completion.
  • Maintaining programme‑level dashboards and thematic analysis to identify emerging risks, recurring defects and systemic performance gaps
  • Coordinating escalation and resolution of systemic quality issues, ensuring root causes are addressed and improvements embedded into standards and guidance
  • Chairing quality governance forums and acting as the authoritative source of Alliance‑level quality performance and insight
  • Embedding lessons learned from audits, investigations and delivery feedback into Management System, Lessons Learned Exchange, standards and delivery guidance
  • Leading the evolution of quality systems through digitalisation, automation and improved use of data
  • Working closely with SHEA, Design Assurance, Supplier Quality and Commercial teams to align quality, safety, delivery and commercial outcomes

About you

Essential

  • Extensive experience leading quality management and assurance within complex infrastructure or construction environments, ideally utilities or water
  • Deep knowledge of quality management systems, auditing and standards such as ISO 9001
  • Strong strategic mindset with the ability to translate data and insight into practical, preventative action at portfolio level
  • A credible, inclusive leadership style with the confidence to challenge constructively and influence senior stakeholders
  • Excellent communication and governance skills, with experience operating at enterprise or alliance level
