Could you take ownership of finance in an organisation that helps thousands of people each year?

We’re looking for an experienced finance professional to lead our finance function and help keep Citizens Advice Flintshire on a strong, sustainable footing. This is a varied, hands-on role with real responsibility - and a genuine opportunity to make your mark in a small, purpose-driven organisation.

About Citizens Advice Flintshire
Citizens Advice Flintshire (CAF) is a trusted local charity that’s been helping people since 1964. We support over 9,000 people each year on issues including benefits, debt, housing, employment, immigration and discrimination. In 2024 alone, we helped clients with over 50,000 problems.

With offices in Mold and Connah’s Quay, plus outreach locations and digital advice channels, our work is made possible by our dedicated staff, volunteers and funders, including Flintshire County Council, Welsh Government and the National Lottery.

About the role
As Senior Finance Officer, you’ll take the lead on our day-to-day finance operations and provide the financial insight our senior leadership team relies on. You’ll produce monthly management accounts, oversee grant and fund accounting, manage payroll, and play a key role in budget monitoring and annual audit preparation.

Your day-to-day duties will include:
Producing monthly management accounts, including profit and loss, balance sheet and cashflow reporting
Managing month-end processes including journals, accruals, reconciliations and prepayments
Overseeing grant and restricted fund accounting, ensuring compliance with funder requirements
Supporting budget holders and providing clear variance analysis and commentary
Processing payroll and pension contributions
Leading on year-end accounts and acting as a key contact during audit
Maintaining and developing our financial systems, including QuickBooks

What we’re looking for
You’ll be a great fit for this role if you:
Have solid experience producing full management accounts independently
Are confident with month-end processes and financial controls
Can communicate financial information clearly to non-financial colleagues and senior stakeholders
Are organised, accurate, and able to manage your own workload to deadlines
Enjoy working collaboratively as part of a small team, while taking ownership of your area
Have experience of, or an interest in, charity finance or grant-funded environments (desirable)

What we offer
33 days holiday per annum (pro rata), plus the option to purchase additional leave
5% matched pension supplement
Hybrid working from our Mold office
A friendly, supportive and inclusive team environment
The chance to make a meaningful contribution to an organisation that genuinely changes lives
