Job Description:
We’re proud to be investing in and expanding our Property Maintenance team, and we’re looking for a qualified and experienced Plumber to help us keep Gentoo homes warm and safe for our customers right across Sunderland.
At Gentoo, our customers are at the heart of everything we do. In this role, you’ll carry out day to day maintenance on our housing stock, delivering high quality repairs and outstanding customer service every time. You’ll use your knowledge of domestic plumbing, along with your understanding of Health & Safety regulations, codes of practice and guidance, to get the job done right first time.
You’ll be someone who enjoys working with people, communicating clearly and professionally with customers, colleagues and wider teams to make sure we deliver a positive experience for every home we support.

Reduced working hours in the summer, with early finishes at 1 pm and 3 pm
Winter working hours up to 4.30 pm, Monday to Friday

A full UK driving licence and a basic DBS check (arranged and funded by Gentoo) are required for this position.

Key responsibilities
Ensure compliance with Gas Safety, delivering day to day plumbing repairs, heating installations and water safety works.
Carry out responsive repairs across Gentoo homes, including installing and maintaining sanitary ware, plumbing and heating systems, soil and rainwater goods.
Install gas boilers, heating systems, and associated pipework and components
Test, commission, and decommission all relevant systems and services.
Complete minor builder’s work and undertake elements of multi skilled work where required.
Accurately complete all paperwork in line with Gas Safety (Installation and Use) Regulations, Gentoo requirements and regulatory standards.
Liaise with line managers and other trades to ensure work is coordinated, efficient and completed on time.
Maintain impressed vehicle stock levels and work efficiently to meet service standards.
Drive as required to carry out the role across Sunderland
What we’re looking for
Essential
A full UK driving licence.
City & Guilds Advanced Craft in Plumbing or NVQ Level 2 in Plumbing.
Current ACS gas qualifications, including CCN1, CENWAT, CKR1 and HTR1.
Proven experience working with gas policies, procedures and regulations.
Strong knowledge of a range of gas appliances.
Demonstrable experience in plumbing and heating, including the installation and maintenance of boilers, fires, hot and cold water systems, sanitary ware, soil, waste and rainwater goods.
Fully competent working in line with the Gas Safety (Installation and Use).
Regulations, Gentoo requirements and regulatory standards.
A flexible approach to meet the demands of the role.
Confidence using handheld IT systems.
A logical approach to fault finding and problem solving.
Ability to carry out multi skilled work where required.
Desirable
Knowledge and experience of unvented systems
