Summary
Baba Budha Ji Educational Trust is seeking to appoint a Religious Worker to support the spiritual and religious activities of Gurdwara Baba Budha Sahib Ji, Peterborough.
The successful candidate will undertake religious and non-pastoral duties in accordance with Sikh Rehat Maryada and the operational needs of the Gurdwara.
Key Responsibilities
• Conduct daily Nitnem and Rehraas Sahib
• Perform Gurbani Kirtan during weekly divaan and special religious programmes
• Undertake seva of Guru Sahib Ji with utmost respect and discipline
• Participate in Akhand Paath, Sehaj Paath, funerals, weddings, and home programmes
• Assist in general Gurdwara duties including preparation for divaan and daily upkeep of the darbar sahib
• Maintain the Sikh code of conduct at all times
Person Specification
Essential Requirements:
• Excellent knowledge of Gurbani, Sikh history, ceremonies & principles
• Able to deliver Gurbani Santhia
• Able to make Karah Prasad
• Ability to perform Kirtan and/or Katha
• Experience singing Gurbani hymns
• Ability to play Harmonium and Tabla
• Strong understanding and observance of Sikh Rehat Maryada
• Of good character, honest and respectful
• Previous experience serving in a Gurdwara environment
Desirable:
• Experience working within a UK Gurdwara
• Basic spoken English
