More detail about the role You would be expected to work as part of the orthopaedic subspecialty teams in both trauma and elective capacities. You would be expected to undertake fracture clinics, elective and trauma operating lists under the direct supervision of a consultant orthopaedic surgeon. You would be expected to undertake on-call commitments as part of the orthopaedic on-call team covering general orthopaedic trauma plus covering spinal referrals out of hours. You are expected to support the on-call junior doctor (previously known as SHO) in reviewing and managing acute referrals alongside the trauma nurse practitioner team. This does not cover hands and the majority of soft tissue injuries. The on-call commitment includes an overnight non-resident component covering the resident on-call SHO where the expectation is that you remain with 20 minutes travel from the hospital overnight.
