Summary

- To perform a deputy team lead role undertaking duties delegated from the Therapy Team Lead, for the organisation, co-ordination, delivery and evaluation of the therapy service to ensure efficient and effective provision of service. - To be responsible for the clinical training development and in-service training for the General Medicine Therapy team from staff in Bands 3-6. Overseeing competency documents, job descriptions and person specifications, and reviewing them as new procedures and practices are developed over time. - To provide clinical leadership to all members of the therapy team through supervision, joint treatment sessions, training and appraisal. - To act as a source of expertise on the management of general medicine patients, providing clinical support and expertise to all staff within the team nurses, health care assistants, occupational therapists, physiotherapists, support staff, Consultants, junior doctors, GPs and other clinical staff - To undertake a lead role in the comprehensive assessment and treatment of patients within the speciality (who may have highly complex and/or chronic presentation) and subsequently plan and deliver high quality treatment programmes. - To encourage and support professional, clinical and personal development of all team members and ensure a cohesive service by close co-operation with colleagues. - To maintain high level of clinical knowledge and skills in order to carry out duties required of this role working clinically old responsibility for own caseload, determine clinical diagnosis and therapy treatment indicated and to maintain records as an autonomous practitioner. - To act as an advanced clinical specialist responsible for the assessment and treatment of inpatients referred with complex presentations. To lead and develop effective inter-disciplinary relationships and communication within the trust and county-wide.
