Summary
The support worker role involves supporting people with a learning disability to maintain their tenancy and develop independent living skills. You must perform the role in a person centred and nonjudgemental way. You are required to deliver support as identified on the person’s plan, monitor the well being of the person and report concerns and record the support offered. Records are held both manually and electronically
The ideal candidate will have excellent interpersonal skills and be able to communicate not only with those who use the service, but other professionals e.g. social workers, medical personnel, housing officers and those who work at The Department of Work and Pensions. The ideal candidate will have a strong values base and be keen to support people to reach their potential and be as independent as possible. The ideal candidate will be resilient and hard working and keen to support people to get the best outcomes. Experience of working in a social care arena is desirable but not essential. However, the candidate must have the use of their own vehicle for use at work and have the appropriate business insurance cover. You must be able to work as part of a team, but large parts of the role are performed as a lone worker out in the community
