What skills and experience we're looking for
St Thomas a Becket Church of England Aided Primary School is seeking to appoint a committed and highly motivated Teaching Assistant, MDSA and ELSA. As a member of staff within our Trust, you will contribute to a collaborative working environment and play a key role in supporting the learning and development of all pupils.
As a Teaching Assistant, you will support class teachers in delivering the National Curriculum and help pupils to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. Your responsibilities will include supporting learning, behaviour, inclusion, and personal care where required. You will work closely with teaching staff, parents, and external professionals, demonstrating a strong commitment to safeguarding, teamwork, and ongoing professional development.
In your role as an MDSA, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety, wellbeing, and positive behaviour of pupils during the lunchtime period. This will involve supervising children, supporting lunchtime routines, maintaining a safe and inclusive environment, and responding appropriately to minor incidents and first aid needs.
As an ELSA, you will provide planned emotional and pastoral support to primary‑aged pupils. Using empathy and understanding, you will help children develop emotional regulation, confidence, positive relationships, and resilience. You will work closely with the SENCo, teachers, and senior leaders to plan, deliver, and review short‑term interventions, maintain confidential records, and promote pupil wellbeing across the school.
