Our Opportunity

Glaisdale Primary School is delighted to announce the launch of our brand-new After School Club!

This is a fantastic opportunity to work closely with our senior staff to create engaging activities and plans for this exciting new provision.

Our After School Club welcomes pupils aged 4-11, we anticipate a group size of up to 10 children and likely fewer in the initial first months of the provision.

You will have the chance to independently deliver and supervise activities, with the full support of our Headteacher and Teacher in Charge to help plan and manage resources.

We are looking for individuals with experience working with children, whether in play work or educational settings. If you have a passion for creating fun and educational experiences, we would love to hear from you!

Key Duties:

• Welcome everyone with enthusiasm. Keep track of arrivals so we always know who’s joining the fun.
• Deliver engaging activities. Create a mix of safe, enjoyable, and imaginative games and projects that get everyone involved. (You will be supported by senior staff with activity planning and resources)
• Prepare tasty, healthy snacks. Serve refreshments that keep the group energised, and handle setup and tidying with confidence.
• Set up an inviting space. Make sure the room is ready with everything needed for crafts, games, challenges, or chill‑out time.
• Be the calm, caring helper. Offer basic first aid for minor bumps and scrapes, keeping everyone reassured.
• Support with practical tasks. From helping organise belongings to checking in when someone feels unwell, be ready to lend a hand.
• Champion safety and wellbeing. Maintain clear supervision so everyone can relax, have fun, and feel safe throughout the session.

Essential Knowledge & Skills

• An understanding of and commitment to the provision of good quality childcare
• An understanding of food hygiene rules
• Ability to plan and deliver safe activities relevant to the age of the children
• Some experience of working with children in a play work or educational setting
• Current first aid certificate

This role is ideal for:

• Childminders looking to transition to a school-based setting
• Newly qualified teaching assistants looking to develop further experience working with children
• Child social workers or carers looking to move away from a full time role whilst still working with children
