ROLE DESCRIPTION

Newcastle College is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Specialist Support Practitioner, who is trained to a minimum Level 2 in BSL, to join a passionate team that supports the achievements of students with a sensory impaired disorder, including d/Deaf and vision impairment.

In this vital role, you'll be at the heart of student success and will:


Deliver high quality one to one or small group support to students
Support inclusive learning
‍♀️ Help students access campus and curriculum

Support awareness raising and understanding of access and inclusion

What We're Looking For:

  • A warm, adaptable, and enthusiastic individual.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A commitment to inclusive education and student wellbeing.
  • It is essential to have a Level 2 British Sign Language (BSL) qualification and a willingness to work toward level 3.
  • Level 2 English & Maths (or equivalent).
  • Flexibility to work evenings and support off-site provision.

We will be holding an event where you can meet the Specialist Support Practitioners and will have the opportunity to discuss the post along with meeting the support coordinators. This will be held from 3pm - 4.30pm on Tuesday 21st April. This will be in the main library on campus at Rye Hill, Scotswood Road, NE4 7SA.
