Working within our Electrotonic Monitoring Services as a Business Support Administrator in our Citizen Services team, you’ll play a central role in keeping our operations running smoothly and efficiently. You’ll provide structured, reliable administrative support that enables operational teams to focus on service delivery, performance and continuous improvement.
This is a varied and rewarding role, ideal for someone who enjoys problem‑solving, organisation and working closely with colleagues across multiple teams. Your work will help create impactful solutions by ensuring processes are well managed, records are accurate, and workflows stay on track. This role would be ideal for someone looking to develop themselves and the role further and deliver continuous improvement to the business

What you’ll do as an EMS Business Support Administrator
You’ll be entrusted to:

- Manage the EMS Shared mailboxes, sorting and directing incoming queries appropriately.
- Support internal and external mail distribution, including postage, tracking and record keeping.
- Raise purchase orders, order goods and services, and maintain accurate purchasing documentation.
- Maintain audit‑ready records and ensure purchasing activity complies with agreed processes.
- Support process improvements to reduce manual effort and improve efficiency.
- Act as a key point of contact for Serco’s vetting team and EMS managers.
- Monitor vetting renewals, flag issues early and produce management information reports.
- Support compliance through accurate and timely record maintenance.
- Assist with preparation for internal and external audits and respond to audit requests.
- Support payroll activity by maintaining accurate documentation and helping meet monthly deadlines.
- Maintain and manage the EMS asset register, tracking equipment movements and records.
- Work with FM, IT and managers to keep asset information up to date.
- Support staff engagement activity, including recognition schemes, charity events and themed initiatives.
- Provide onboarding and offboarding administrative support, including tracking kit issue and returns.
- Deliver general administrative support across Facilities and Business Support functions.
- Schedule meetings, manage calendars, book rooms and support logistics.
- Produce correspondence, reports and documentation and maintain filing systems.
- Work closely with the wider Business Support and Reception team to ensure full cover throughout the day.
- Build strong working relationships across EMS to support seamless operations.

- Experience in an administrative, operations support or customer‑facing role.
- A professional, friendly and customer‑focused approach.
- Confidence using Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- High attention to detail and commitment to quality and accuracy.
- A proactive, resourceful mindset with strong problem‑solving skills.
- The ability to work collaboratively within a small, high‑performing team.
- Yellow Belt training or willingness to work towards accreditation (desirable).
- Experience working in complex operational environments (desirable).

Vetting and checks:
This role requires BPSS clearance, which involves identity verification, employment history, and criminal record checks to meet government security standards. An Occupational Health Questionnaire will also be required to ensure we can offer appropriate support for your wellbeing and performance.
A Standard DBS check will be carried out for this position. This includes spent and unspent convictions, cautions, reprimands, and warnings as permitted under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act.
