Summary

Lecturer in Foundation Learning (Sport)

ROLE DESCRIPTION

Newcastle College is currently looking for a qualified and dedicated Lecturer in Foundation Learning to teach on the Access to Further Education course, with a specific vocational focus on Sport. The role requires the successful candidate to provide high-quality learning programs to 16-18 year olds in Foundation Learning, across different levels of further education. In addition to delivering engaging one-on-one and group tutorial sessions, the candidate will be responsible for delivering Digital Skills lessons and Vocational Sport sessions to one of the Access groups, as well as undertaking program leadership and administrative duties.

To be considered for this role, candidates should have a strong background as a personal tutor and a proven track record of developing employability skills, promoting independence, and planning learners' next steps to progress further in education, employment or training. Experience or qualifications in sports coaching or physical education are essential to deliver the vocational aspect of this role.

The ideal candidate should hold an honours degree level qualification (Level 6), a post-16 teaching qualification, and English and maths qualifications at level 2. However, if they do not hold these qualifications, they should be willing to obtain them within an agreed timeframe. It is desirable for the candidate to have experience in effective program leadership in FE and a proven track record of successful teaching and assessment practice. The candidate should possess excellent oral and written communication skills, strong IT skills, and the ability to self-manage workload and meet deadlines. The

Access to Further Education course is designed to develop maths and English skills, as well as vocational and personal skills such as confidence, self-esteem, and teamwork. Students will engage in weekly maths, English, Tutorial, ICT and vocational Sport lessons.
