These flexible opportunities are ideal for English Teachers who enjoy variety and want to make a positive impact across different secondary school settings. You will be supporting pupils in Finchley and the surrounding areas, delivering engaging and high‑quality English lessons across a range of year groups.
Duties as English Teacher:
- Deliver engaging English lessons using provided plans
- Teach core areas including literature, language, reading, writing, and analysis
- Support pupils in developing communication, comprehension, and critical‑thinking skills
- Adapt teaching approaches to meet the needs of mixed‑ability learners
- Manage classroom behaviour effectively in line with school policies
- Assess, record, and report on pupil progress where required
- Contribute to departmental collaboration during longer‑term placements
- Help create a positive, inclusive learning environment
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
- Strong subject knowledge in English language and literature
- Confident behaviour and classroom management skills
- Ability to inspire curiosity and engagement among pupils
- Adaptable across different year groups and school environments
- Good organisational and communication skills
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting pupil welfare
- Willingness to take part in professional development
