The Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital NHS Trust (RNOH) is the UK’s largest specialist orthopaedic hospital and a recognised leader in the field. The Trust is seeking innovative and motivated Nurses to join the Staff Bank to support the delivery of high‑quality patient care. Bank nurses will work within friendly, enthusiastic teams who take part in the Trust’s Productive Ward initiative. RNOH provides a unique range of neuro‑musculoskeletal services, from acute spinal injuries and complex bone tumours to orthopaedic medicine and specialist rehabilitation. Flexible working options, including part‑time and job‑share arrangements, are supported.

The role is responsible for assessing patient care needs, developing appropriate care plans, and implementing and evaluating those plans. The postholder is expected to deliver all aspects of nursing care without direct supervision, while also teaching and supervising both qualified and unqualified staff. Maintaining consistently high standards of care within the department is essential.

• Ensure all patients receive a consistently high standard of nursing care.
• Participate in admission and discharge planning alongside the multidisciplinary team.
• Act as anamed nursefor allocated patients.
• Uphold the Trust’s commitment tosafeguarding children, young people, and vulnerable adults.
• Comply with RNOH’s requirement forID verification using scanning technologyfor key documents (e.g., passports, driving licences).

The Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital (RNOH) is a national centre of excellence, treating patients from across the UK who are often referred for second opinions or for the management of complex or rare orthopaedic conditions. Patients benefit from care delivered by highly specialised consultants, many of whom are recognised nationally and internationally for their expertise. These consultants work alongside specialist nurses, therapists, and clinical staff who are experts in their respective fields.
RNOH is a major teaching centre, with around 20% of all UK orthopaedic surgeons receiving part of their training at the Trust. Its strong teaching and clinical practice are supported by extensive research and development activity, in partnership with University College London. Research departments at the Stanmore site include the Institute of Orthopaedics, the Centre for Disability Research and Innovation, the Institute of Human Performance, and the Centre for Biomedical Engineering.

Patients also benefit from access to the Aspire Leisure Centre, located on site, which provides high‑quality facilities for both disabled and non‑disabled users.
Key Responsibilities
As a valued member of our nursing team, you will play a vital role in delivering safe, high‑quality and patient‑centred care. Your responsibilities will include:
• Ensuring all patient documentation is accurate, comprehensive and maintained to the highest standard.
• Communicating effectively with all members of the healthcare team to ensure prescribed treatments are delivered safely and promptly.
• Maintaining the safe custody and administration of medicines, and escalating any discrepancies immediately.
• Undertaking extended clinical duties within the unit, as authorised by the Nursing Advisory Committee.

• Supervise and facilitate the learning of nursing students and other learners within the workplace.
