What You'll Be Doing
As an Apprentice Security Systems Engineer, you'll be out in the field and on-site, learning how to install, maintain, and support the systems that keep buildings and people secure.
Your day-to-day could include:
-Installing and configuring security systems such as CCTV, intruder alarms, and access control systems (including card readers and biometric devices)
-Running and terminating cabling, reading technical drawings, and ensuring installations meet industry standards (e.g. NSI/SSAIB)
-Testing and commissioning systems, diagnosing faults, and carrying out routine maintenance and repairs
-Supporting emergency call-outs and helping to restore systems quickly and safely
-Working closely with clients, understanding their needs, and showing them how to use their systems
-Keeping accurate records of your work, including system configurations, fault reports, and compliance documentation
-Always working in line with Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality (HSEQ) standards
As part of your role, you'll complete the Level 3 Fire, Emergency and Security Systems Technician Apprenticeship, delivered by Skills4Security.
-Training is delivered via block release
-Travel and accommodation are fully covered by Mitie
-You'll receive a mix of classroom learning and hands-on practical training
-Full support from both your training provider and Mitie's dedicated Apprenticeship Team
This programme typically runs over 36 months, giving you the knowledge, skills, and qualifications to become a fully qualified Security Systems Engineer.

-GCSEs in Maths and English (Grades 4-9 or equivalent) or Scottish National 5 certificates (Grade A-C). Certificates must be provided at the interview stage.
