Neway International are seeking a Qualified Social Worker – Children’s to join our client based with Somerset Council
Location: King Square, Bridgwater, TA6 3AR
Hours: 37 per week
Work Pattern: 2 days remote, 3 days office-based (5 days in office on duty weeks every 6 weeks)
The Role
Somerset Council is seeking an experienced Qualified Social Worker (SWE registered) to join the Children & Families Help & Protect Service in Bridgwater. You will complete Child & Family Assessments following referrals from the Family Front Door and work within a well‑established Family Safeguarding model.
You’ll collaborate with adult‑focused practitioners in areas such as substance misuse, domestic abuse, and mental health, ensuring assessments and plans are informed, holistic, and child‑centred.
Key Responsibilities
Complete high‑quality Child & Family Assessments.
Undertake direct work with children and young people to capture their voice and lived experience.
Work with parents and wider family networks, including access to Family Group Conferencing.
Support families to identify strengths, address concerns, and sustain positive change.
Participate in regular reflective supervision within a stable, supportive team.
Use motivational interviewing approaches to support family engagement.
Requirements
Qualified Social Worker with Social Work England registration.
Substantial experience working with children and families in statutory social work.
Strong relationship‑based practice and reflective thinking.
Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
Ability to travel as required.
