Desian Education are proud to be working in collaboration with a single-form entry primary school in Warrington that is at the heart of its local community as they require an experienced and motivated teaching assistant to join their team.
This is an extremely exciting opportunity to join an experienced and supportive KS1 cohort on a full-time temporary basis.


Your new role

As a teaching assistant within this school, you will be working in collaboration with the year 1 class teacher, supporting them in the delivery of stimulating and engaging lessons by breaking down learning barriers and building strong constructive relationships with your new pupils. Your main responsibility within this role will be to support a new pupil to the school on a 1:1 basis. Your pupil has a dual diagnosis of ASD and non-verbal and due to their needs they aren’t able to access the curriculum. You will advocate for them throughout the school day, supporting their communication, sensory and other areas of development by:
- Using Makaton and PECs
- Sensory stimuli
- Working in collaboration with external professionals including SALT


What you need to succeed

- Full “Right to Work” in the UK
- An Enhanced Children’s Certificate or willingness to obtain
- To be at least NVQ Level 2 Supporting Teaching and Learning or equivalent qualified
- Experience supporting SEN (ASD and non-verbal is advantageous)
- Experience using PECs and/or Makaton
