Summary

Litigation Lawyer (Hybrid/Remote) needed in Exeter, £39.35ph PAYE - Reference: 5295206

1. To take instructions and advise on a wide range of legal matters across all services which are often complex and contentious requiring extensive research and knowledge of the law.

2. To prepare and conduct contentious matters before the civil courts and tribunals and prosecutions before the criminal courts, instructing Counsel where appropriate. This will include instigating and defending legal proceedings up to and including final hearings and appeals. To negotiate and settle cases where appropriate, including arbitration and dispute resolution.

3. The role includes areas such as civil and commercial litigation before the civil courts (including housing applications for possession on the grounds of anti-social behaviour, applications for possession of land, advice on contractual disputes), enforcement through prosecutions before the criminal courts (including planning, Environmental health and licensing prosecutions).

4. To assist the Legal Services Manager with advising on contentious matters allocated to other members of the Litigation Team.

This is a full time role on a temporary contract basis
