Summary


Applications are invited for an NHS funded post of Consultant Orthodontist at the Bristol Dental Hospital; part time 8 PA’s on a permanent contract. The appointee will be welcomed within an integrated and collegiate South West Cleft Service and Child Dental Health as part of the Orthodontic team.

There is no on-call commitment.

The post holder(s) will be expected to provide clinical leadership, dental advice and treatment within the specialty of Orthodontics and for patients requiring management of cleft lip and palate, hypodontia, and jaw deformity.



The successful candidate(s) will be expected to carry out:



- New patient referral clinics

- Personal treatment

- Clinical postgraduate teaching

- Multidisciplinary planning and review clinics



It is expected that the post-holder(s) will complement the existing NHS Consultant Orthodontists by having a particular interest in cleft lip and palate management. It would be advantageous for applicant(s) to have an experience in hypodontia, jaw deformity, dental trauma and ectopic teeth to support patient care and postgraduate teaching. The successful candidate will be required to collaborate with colleagues from other specialities currently involved in the Multi-Disciplinary Teams.

The post-holder(s) will also have responsibilities to develop and contribute to continuing education, professional development, audit and research within the Directorate and Trust. As a member of the team involvement in postgraduate teaching will be encouraged together with the active supervision of NHS junior trainees.

The post holder will require considerable flexibility and a wide range of skills to meet the many challenges of this post.
