Summary


An exciting opportunity for an individual to join the team (based at Charing Cross Hospital) as a clinical nurse specialist within metastatic breast cancer. The Trust strives to provide world-class healthcare for our patients, through excellence in research, education and training.

We are looking for a keen nurse to come and join our established team. You will be responsible for the care and support of people with metastatic breast cancer, and assist us by ensuring that the patients’ experience reflects what the patient wants. You will also be pivotal in shaping and promoting the nursing vision and direction of the breast service.

The post holder will work within breast cancer CNS team giving specialist information and support to those with metastatic breast cancer and acting as Key Worker. You must be willing to undertake specialist courses at post graduate level if appropriate.

The ideal candidate will be an experienced nurse with relevant experience of either working directly with people with breast cancer or of working as a cancer CNS in another speciality with a keen interest in breast cancer.


• Provide specialist nursing advice, care and support to patients with, metastatic breast cancer and facilitate high quality, individualised care to patients/clients and relatives/carers, both inpatients and outpatients in collaboration with the multi-disciplinary team and in line with local and national targets.
• At all times ensure that the needs of the patient are placed at the centre of care delivery. Where appropriate acting as a ‘key worker’.
• Work to improve the patient experience throughout the patient journey.
• Deputise for their line manager in designated tasks relevant to the development of role/clinical specialty. Act as professional role model, providing direct and indirect clinical care, teaching and research.
• To work with senior members of the team and contribute to the development of the clinical nurse specialist role in accordance with local and national policy and ensure the needs of patients and their families are central to service improvement initiative.
