The Opportunity

The role will focus on developing a robust, fully resourced and deliverable programme that clearly communicates methodology, sequencing and risk management to the client.
You will play a critical role within the tender team, working closely with engineering, commercial and bid management functions to shape a winning proposal. This is an excellent opportunity to influence a flagship bid, gain exposure to complex infrastructure work and demonstrate your ability at a pivotal stage of the project lifecycle.
Key benefits include involvement in a high value tender, close collaboration with senior stakeholders and the opportunity to strengthen your profile within a major infrastructure environment.
Your duties and responsibilities will be
- Develop detailed tender stage programmes for a large civil engineering project, including logic, sequencing and key milestones
- Produce programme narratives and planning inputs that clearly explain construction methodology and delivery strategy
- Work closely with engineering teams to ensure programmes reflect buildable and efficient construction solutions
- Liaise with commercial and estimating teams to align programmes with cost, phasing and resource assumptions
- Identify key programme risks, constraints and opportunities and support the development of mitigation strategies
- Carry out optioneering and programme comparisons to support bid decisions
- Support the preparation of tender documentation including method statements, planning assumptions and phasing diagrams
- Contribute to tender meetings, reviews and workshops as required
- Ensure programmes are compliant with client requirements and tender instructions
- Maintain version control and clear audit trails throughout the tender process
- Provide planning support to bid leadership to strengthen the overall quality and competitiveness of the submission
You will have the following qualifications & experience:
- Experience with onshore cable works or cable infrastructure
- Proven experience working as a Planner or Planning Engineer within civil engineering or infrastructure environments
- Experience producing tender stage programmes for complex construction projects
- Strong knowledge of construction methodology, sequencing and temporary works influences on programme
- Proficiency in planning software such as Primavera P6 or equivalent
- Ability to communicate programmes clearly to non planning stakeholders
- Experience working to tight deadlines within a bid or tender environment
It’s great if you also have the following
- Experience supporting large or nationally significant infrastructure tenders
- Experience working collaboratively within multidisciplinary bid teams
- Knowledge of NEC or similar forms of contract from a planning perspective
- Experience contributing to programme risk workshops or tender reviews
- Ability to produce clear programme graphics and visual outputs for bid documents
The setting for the role
The role will be primarily office based with close integration into a bid and tender environment. You will work alongside planning, engineering, commercial and bid professionals and may be required to attend workshops or meetings to support tender development. Flexibility and the ability to work to demanding submission deadlines will be essential.
