Summary

About The Team:

SRUC’s School of Veterinary Medicine and Biosciences (SVMB), the first new School of Veterinary Medicine in Scotland for 150 years, was founded on the organisation’s established, high-profile expertise across this sector.

SVMB is a natural evolution of SRUC’s established, interprofessional and highly acclaimed expertise in Veterinary and Animal Biosciences. In combination with our unique reach into the Scottish sector, we will drive excellence. Our collegiate approach will facilitate synergies, addressing skills, knowledge and enterprise gaps across the breadth of this sector – providing essential support to Scotland’s Natural Economy.

Wayne Powell, SRUC Principal and CEO affirms that, “this is a ground-breaking model to expand access to educational opportunities and broaden the range of potential students who would not ordinarily be able to attend a School of Veterinary Medicine and Biosciences. It is also the first to offer a tertiary range of educational opportunities for veterinary professionals and in the related animal sciences.”

The Opportunity:

We are seeking a highly motivated individual to provide excellence in teaching and research to contribute to the school’s teaching on the BVSci programme, as well as allied health programmes in the School.

The candidate will have an extensive knowledge of veterinary animal husbandry to support early veterinary science teaching through lectures, tutorials, workshops and practical classes.

We are interested in candidates with expertise in several areas of animal management and production systems. This will also include a focus on the interactions between animals and their environment on production, performance, health and wellbeing in relation to both production and companion animal species.

You will develop and deliver high quality teaching and scholarly outcomes as a member of the wider veterinary medicine teaching and research team.

It is expected that lecturers will have experience of scholarly and stakeholder/sector engagement activities evidenced through impactful publications and other outputs.

The successful candidate will be based at SRUC’s Aberdeen Campus.

We are looking to appoint either a Lecturer, Senior Lecturer or Veterinary Lecturer depending on background qualifications and skills.
