What the school offers its staff
At Aldersley High School in Wolverhampton, we are determined to leave no stone unturned in our quest for educational excellence, and we are very clear how to get there.
We exist to strengthen our community – by ambitiously educating young people who excel academically and make a positive difference in our world.
We teach challenging lessons, impart powerful knowledge and provide excellent support, so that we achieve the best outcomes and make success inevitable.
Aldersley High School is a diverse, highly successful 11-18 comprehensive school set in the north-east of Wolverhampton, near to the commuter link of Junction 2 of the M54. We serve a vibrant and ambitious community that is used to having a strong school at its heart, and we would love for you to be part of it.
Aldersley was the founding school of the Amethyst Trust, which has expanded significantly over the past few years to now encompass five schools in a growing and thriving Trust partnership. We benefit from fantastic relationships with our sister schools, meaning that there is great opportunity for networking, professional development and ultimately professional success at Aldersley and beyond in our Trust. We are a Trust that believes in a ‘talent-first’ approach, ensuring that we grow potential and see leadership opportunities as a logical step for those who make a real impact.
As a staff, we always act with our core values clearly in mind. Before anything else, anyone who works at Aldersley CARES. Our CARES values are:
We are Committed - Whatever the challenge, we get stuck in and we work hard. Our students deserve nothing less.
We are Ambitious - We always aim for our students to be the best. We are ambitious for what they will achieve.
We are Reliable - We are consistent, day after day after day. We always know what to expect from each other.
We are Experts - We seek self-improvement at all times. We work hard to have expert knowledge in all that we do.
We put Students First - We make all decisions in the best interests of students. We put their success before anything else.
We believe that our students are best-served by having a staff body who are supported to have meaningful work-life balance and their family lives protected, so they can give everything to our students during the school day. We fiercely protect our directed time budget, limit communications outside of the working day, and do not ask our teachers to mark books regularly, focusing instead on assessment that really works. We work together on shared planning so that our energies can be spent on excellent delivery in the classroom, where students behave well and want to learn.
As the founding school of the Amethyst Trust, we benefit from our links with two partner secondary schools and two specialist schools, giving fantastic career development opportunities at every turn. The Amethyst Trust is at the forefront of educational thinking, with innovative teaching with a knowledge-rich edge, progressive ideas on feedback and staff wellbeing, and excellent provision for SEND students through our well-equipped Resource Base. We benefit from fantastic grounds and facilities, including excellent and regularly-updated ICT, and the Trust is in a strong position to make sure that our staff and students want for nothing.
We know we have succeeded when our students achieve academic outcomes that are amongst the best locally and nationally. We are determined that our community will be proud of our school and will know that it is excellent. Our students will have developed qualities that will ensure that they succeed in the wider world, and you will have played your part in making it happen.
