Summary
Pastoral Support Assistant
Location: Plymouth, Devon
Salary: Competitive (Based on experience)
Contract: Full-Time
Are you a dedicated educator with a passion for supporting students with Special Educational Needs (SEN)? We are looking for a resilient, empathetic, and highly organised Pastoral Support Assistant to join our team in Plymouth.
In this role, you won't just be "helping out"-you'll be the bridge between a student's potential and their success. You will work closely with pupils who have diverse learning requirements, including ASC, SEMH, and ADHD, ensuring they have the tailored support they need to thrive in a classroom environment.
The EssentialsTo be considered for this role, you must meet the following strict criteria:
-
Proven SEN or SEMH Experience: You have a solid background working with children or young people with additional needs. You understand that every student is different and can adapt your approach on the fly.
-
Core Qualifications: You must hold a GCSE in Mathematics and English (Grade C/4 or above).
-
Mobility: You must hold a full UK Driving Licence and have daily access to your own vehicle. This is non-negotiable as the role may involve supporting students across different sites in the Plymouth area.
-
Providing 1:1 and small group support to students with complex learning needs.
-
Implementing tailored Educational Health Care Plans (EHCPs).
-
Assisting with the delivery of modified lesson plans in line with the curriculum.
-
Managing challenging behaviour with patience, de-escalation techniques, and a positive attitude.
-
Collaborating with teachers, parents, and external specialists to monitor and report on student progress.
-
Patient & Resilient: You understand that progress can be slow, and you celebrate the small wins.
-
A Strong Communicator: You can build rapport quickly with students who may find social interaction difficult.
-
Professional: You are reliable, punctual, and maintain high standards of safeguarding at all times.
If you have the required GCSEs, a car, and the heart for SEN education, we want to hear from you.
