About the Role

This is a full-time Science Teacher position starting ASAP. The role involves delivering high-quality, engaging lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4, with the potential for Key Stage 5 involvement for the right candidate.This position is a temporary-to-permanent opportunity, allowing you to establish deep roots within a vibrant, multi-cultural secondary setting.

Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
  • An Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply for one).
  • Strong references covering the last two years of employment.
  • Eligibility to work in the UK.

  • Subject Mastery: Deep knowledge of Biology, Chemistry, and Physics.
  • Adaptability: The ability to adjust teaching methods to meet diverse SEND and EAL needs.
  • Communication: Excellent oracy and literacy skills to model standard English.
  • Organisation: Strong classroom management and lesson-planning capabilities.
  • Resilience: The ability to remain professional and calm under pressure.
  • Collaboration: Working effectively within a large, multidisciplinary departmental team.
Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver Engaging Lessons: Plan and execute Science lessons that stimulate intellectual curiosity.
  • Assessment & Feedback: Provide regular, constructive verbal and written feedback to guide student progress.
  • Curriculum Development: Contribute to the design of an ambitious Science curriculum that revisits key concepts.
  • Manage Misconceptions: Use tasks to identify and address student misunderstandings immediately.
  • Behaviour Management: Maintain high expectations of behaviour using the school's established rewards and sanctions.
  • Technology Integration: Utilise digital tools to enhance learning and accessibility.
  • Data Analysis: Monitor student attainment data to identify and close learning gaps.
  • Safeguarding: Actively promote the welfare and safety of all students in accordance with school policy.
  • Parental Liaison: Communicate effectively with families regarding student achievement and well-being.
  • Extracurricular Support: Contribute to the academy's enrichment program, such as STEM or ICT clubs.
