We're looking for an experienced General Foreperson to play a key role in delivering the A46 Coventry Junctions - Walsgrave Scheme, a major National Highways project designed to improve safety, capacity, and regional connectivity. This is a hands-on leadership role where you'll be visible on site, setting standards, coordinating works, and supporting safe, high-quality delivery across a challenging highways environment.



You'll be working on…. (what your role and responsibility is)As General Foreperson, you'll support the day-to-day delivery of works on the A46 Walsgrave scheme, ensuring activities are planned, resourced, and delivered safely, to programme, and to specification.

Your role will include:

-Leading and supervising site activities across major earthworks and highways workstreams

-Coordinating direct labour, subcontractors, and plant to maintain productivity and safe systems of work

-Supporting the Site Agent and Site Manager, including deputising when required, to keep works progressing smoothly

-Driving a right-first-time approach, ensuring quality, compliance, and defect-free delivery

-Embedding a strong Zero Harm culture, ensuring RAMS, permits, and controls are followed at all times

-Supporting programme delivery through daily planning, short-term lookaheads, and coordination of resources

-Maintaining accurate site records, diaries, and permits

-Playing an active role in customer and stakeholder awareness on a live highways scheme, with consideration for road users and local communities

-Site Agent and Project Management team

-Engineers and Site Supervisors

-Subcontractors and suppliers

-Plant, logistics, and temporary works teams

-National Highways and Local Authority stakeholders (as required)

-Think ahead, spotting issues early and working with the management team to keep delivery on track

-Understand the demands of live highways and earthworks environments, including safety, programme, and public interface

-Take ownership of your area and hold yourself and others to high standards



You'll bring… (your wealth of experience & qualifications)
-Proven experience as a General Foreperson / Foreperson / Senior Supervisor on highways projects

-Strong earthworks experience, ideally on major highways or infrastructure schemes

-Solid understanding of highways construction, temporary works interfaces, and safe systems of work

-Experience coordinating labour, plant, and supply chain to meet programme requirementsConfidence to deputise for the Site Manager when required

-A practical approach to quality control, permits, and site documentationExperience working on National Highways or similarly regulated infrastructure projects (preferred)

QualificationsEssential:

-SMSTS or SSSTS

-CSCS Card (Gold Supervisor or Black Manager preferred)

-First Aid at Work

-Full UK Driving Licence

Desirable:

-NRSWA

-Temporary Works Supervisor / Coordinator

-CAT & Genny

-Asbestos Awareness

-National Highways Passport / Safety Critical Medical
