Senior Engineer (Delivery) – SP Energy Networks
Location: Prenton, Wirral Business Area: 132kV Projects – RIIO‑ED2 Programme
This is a key role in delivering critical infrastructure to power millions of homes and businesses. SP Energy Networks are looking for a Senior Engineer (Delivery) to join their 132kV Projects team, driving the safe, efficient and high‑quality delivery of their RIIO‑ED2 investment programme.

Duration: 12 month initial contract
Location: Prenton, CH43 3ET
Rate: Inside IR35, Umbrella and PAYE options available
Hours: Full time, Mon - Fri
About the Role
As a Senior Engineer, you’ll take ownership of a portfolio of complex capital projects, ensuring they are delivered safely, sustainably and on time. You’ll work across design, planning and construction phases, collaborating with multi‑discipline teams and external contractors to deliver high‑quality outcomes for our network and customers.
What You’ll Be Doing•
Leading the development and delivery of complex capital projects, ensuring compliance with safety, environmental and quality standards.

Driving innovation, value engineering and best practice to outperform price control targets.
•
Developing and managing detailed project programmes.
•
Coordinating internal teams and external contractors to meet key project milestones.
•
Ensuring safe and compliant construction delivery, maintaining operational access and mitigating environmental risks.
•
Overseeing testing, handover and accurate asset data entry into corporate systems.
•
Promoting continuous improvement through lessons learned and project reviews.
What You’ll Bring
•
Strong knowledge of infrastructure planning and consenting processes.
•
Solid understanding of health, safety and environmental legislation, including CDM regulations.
•
Experience managing stakeholders and governance across complex projects.
•
Ability to influence and collaborate across diverse teams without direct line authority.
•
Strategic problem‑solving skills with the ability to develop solutions for complex challenges.
•
Excellent organisational and planning capability, with experience managing long‑term, multi‑disciplinary projects.
•
A commitment to quality, continuous improvement and best‑practice delivery.
•
Full UK driving licence (travel across SPEN locations required).
Minimum Criteria
•
Proven experience in complex project development or delivery, ideally within electrical infrastructure, transmission or distribution.
•
Degree in Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
