Summary

Deputy Manager - Residential / Supported Living (Learning Disabilities & Autism)
Hours: 35
Salary: £32,523.40 - 34,398.00 FTE per annum, plus on call allowance

Make a real impact. Grow your leadership. Shape our future.

Cheddle Lodge is a warm, friendly and settled 13 bed home that provides person-centred support for adults with learning disabilities and autism and complex physical disabilities. It’s a calm and welcoming environment, where the home thrives on the strong, supportive relationships built between residents and staff and with families /parents / carers, creating a sense of stability, trust and genuine connection in daily life.

We’re looking for someone who reflects the warmth and steady pace of the home, and who can turn that care and connection into real momentum bringing the drive, confidence and leadership to lift the team, raise standards and deliver consistently high-quality support.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Team Leader, or existing Deputy / Assistant Manager who is ready to take their leadership to the next level. The role offers genuine development, meaningful responsibility and exposure to strategic areas of the organisation making it a strong stepping stone for future Registered Manager opportunities.

About the Role

As Deputy Manager, you will work under the Registered Manager to strengthen leadership within the service, ensuring daily practice is consistent, safe and aligned with CQC standards. You’ll provide supportive, visible leadership to our staff team, empowering Team Leaders and modelling the values and behaviours we expect across the service.

Deputise for the Registered Manager when needed.
Lead, support, motivate and develop Team Leaders and staff.
Drive excellent standards of person-centred care and safeguarding practice.
Oversee care plans, risk assessments, PBS plans and documentation.
Support CQC compliance, audits, quality improvement and service development.
Build strong relationships with families, MDTs and external professionals.
Alongside operational responsibilities, you’ll have the opportunity to develop broader organisational insight, including governance, quality improvement and stakeholder engagement, supporting our succession planning approach and strengthening future leadership capacity.

About You

You are a confident, influential and values driven leader who brings presence, credibility and calm authority to the service. People naturally look to you for guidance, not because of your job title, but because you’re consistent, fair, approachable and focused on doing the right thing.

You have a supportive leadership style, able to motivate others, build trust and bring people with you through change. You lead by example, challenge respectfully, and create an environment where staff feel valued, and encouraged to grow.

You will bring:

Proven experience in a senior / management role within adult social care (Team Leader, Deputy Manager or similar)
Strong capability in leading teams, managing performance and influencing practice.
Experience working with adults with learning disabilities, autism and/or complex needs is desirable.
Experience in a senior role within adult social care is essential, and Level 3 Health & Social Care (or equivalent) is required. We’ll support you to work towards Level 5 if you haven’t already achieved it.
Confident safeguarding knowledge and the ability to respond to concerns with sound judgement.
Experience in care planning, risk management and delivering person-centred support.
High standards and a commitment to quality, safety and continuous improvement
Excellent communication skills, able to work effectively with staff, families, MDTs and external partners
A proactive, solutions focused mindset, someone who spots issues early and takes action
Most importantly, your attitude and values will shine through. You’ll genuinely care about people, believe in their potential, and take pride in creating the best possible environment for residents and staff.

You’ll also share our organisational values:

Opportunity – Creating environments where people thrive
Inclusive – Championing equality, respect and voice
Caring – Showing empathy, compassion and kindness
Wellbeing – Building strong relationships and supportive teams
