About Us: Our business, Solrise Private Ltd T/A Birstall Groceries, based at 1 The Meadway, Birstall, Leicester, is a growing neighbourhood convenience store and licensed off‑licence serving the local community. We offer groceries, fresh produce, dairy items, household essentials, tobacco products, and a wide range of beers, wines, and spirits, along with everyday items such as SIM cards and phone accessories. We also provide parcel services through Amazon, DHL, and Royal Mail, as well as bill payments and top‑ups via PayPoint. With increasing customer demand and ongoing expansion, we require reliable staff to support daily store operations, manage stock, assist with service counters, and maintain strong customer service standards across our convenience and off‑licence activities.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Purchasing Managers and Directors at Solrise Private Ltd T/A Birstall Groceries will plan, organise, direct, and coordinate all buying activities to make sure the store purchases goods in a cost‑effective way. They develop buying strategies, research the market, negotiate prices and delivery terms, and work with a range of suppliers to keep stock available at all times. Their duties include checking stock levels, forecasting demand based on sales trends and busy local events, and planning extra stock for high‑footfall days. They also manage stock rotation, reduce waste, and ensure all purchases comply with alcohol, tobacco, and other regulatory requirements. In addition, they oversee inventory for parcel services (UPS, DHL, Amazon) and PayPoint, maintain accurate records for audits, monitor budgets, and use digital systems to streamline ordering and keep product availability up to date both in‑store and online. By managing the full purchasing process, they help maintain the right stock levels, control costs, and support smooth daily operations of the convenience and off‑licence business.
SALARY RANGE: £38,500 to £55000 or depending upon experience
