Summary
About the role
Our Project Managers lead high‑priority, complex, cross‑functional change initiatives that directly contribute to the delivery of the UK Plan. As project experts, they are responsible for mobilising and leading teams across multiple functions, often navigating ambiguity and tackling challenges that are new to everyone involved.
This role offers significant exposure across the UK business, with the opportunity to work closely with Directors and senior leaders in all functions. The portfolio of work is dynamic, with multiple programmes running in parallel and priorities shifting as projects conclude and new initiatives begin.
It is an ideal opportunity for someone looking to broaden their network and gain experience working across a wide range of functions. The role also provides an excellent platform to further develop project management capability, bringing clarity and structure where no precedent exists, and flexing leadership style to influence peers and more senior colleagues in the delivery of critical business priorities.
In addition, there is the opportunity to shape and develop initiatives that strengthen the wider Programme, Project and Change community across the business.
You will be responsible for
- Defining and scoping the projects and programmes you lead, setting clear direction and alignment by establishing a compelling vision, objectives and delivery plan
- Mobilising cross‑functional project and programme teams, and establishing effective ways of working to enable successful delivery
- Setting up and facilitating appropriate governance to ensure clear oversight, informed decision‑making and strategic direction
- Engaging, influencing and aligning stakeholders at all levels of the organisation to deliver agreed outcomes
- Managing interdependencies and assessing impacts across projects and programmes to ensure alignment and minimise risk
- Driving progress in a consistent and transparent way, proactively identifying and managing risks, issues and opportunities
- Supporting the development of subject matter expertise within the team and contributing to capability building across the wider Programme, Project and Change community
You will need
- An ability to embrace uncertainty and enjoy bringing clarity and structure where none exists
- Energy and a positive outlook that helps teams around you find ways to deliver the right outcomes, in the right way
- A strong alignment to the Tesco Purpose and Values, with a commitment to role‑modelling our Win Together behaviours
- A proven track record of successfully delivering projects and/or programmes while working cross‑functionally
- Experience leading project teams and building, maintaining and nurturing strong relationships with a wide range of stakeholders
- Confidence influencing stakeholders, facilitating governance sessions and NWTs, and engaging senior business leaders
- A proactive approach to taking accountability, making decisions and driving momentum and progress
- A clear view of what you want from this role, with the ability to articulate how it supports your longer‑term career and development goals
- Enjoyment of working as part of a motivated, enthusiastic team, with a willingness to contribute to building a high‑performing, collaborative team culture
