Summary
The post holder serves as the lead technical authority for all infrastructure-related programmes and projects within the digital portfolio. They are responsible for defining, owning, and enforcing architecture standards and technical strategy, and for making high‑risk, high‑impact technical decisions.
They will plan and oversee all programme infrastructure activity, support the development of the Trust’s technical strategy, and line‑manage technical resources brought in to support delivery. The role represents the programme at internal and external meetings, working closely with key stakeholders—such as Business Engagement, Change, Service Transition, and Project Managers—to ensure that technical designs meet customer needs and remain aligned with organisational strategy.
To support flexible working, the post holder may also be required to undertake duties in other roles at the same grade, where their expertise can add value and improve organisational efficiency.
The role is responsible for leading technical architecture, infrastructure strategy, and security across the Trust. It requires strong stakeholder management, maintaining relationships with senior leaders, clinicians, operational teams, and suppliers. The post holder develops technology roadmaps, designs resilient infrastructure solutions, and ensures alignment with organisational strategy and operational needs.
They oversee technical teams, allocate resources, set priorities, and ensure high‑quality delivery. The role also manages technical contracts, monitors capital and operational expenditure, and contributes to budget planning and business case development.
The post holder provides complex technical information, maintains infrastructure systems, develops reports, and uses management data to improve service architecture. They lead research and innovation, ensuring technology decisions reflect industry best practice.
The role also involves strategic planning, risk and dependency management, chairing or attending stakeholder meetings, and ensuring services are delivered to time, quality, and budget. They contribute to policy development, promote innovation, and ensure new or changed services have complete support models before going live.
