Summary
Job overview An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Outpatient Hysteroscopy team at Princess Alexandra Hospital as a clinical nurse specialist. The successful applicant will be instrumental in developing a new pathway allowing for efficient streamlining, booking, assessment and diagnosis of patients referred under the Faster Diagnostic Standard as part of a wider improvement programme across Women's Health. The role will involve triaging referrals to the service and creation of a nurse led clinic to assess and direct these referrals to the appropriate pathway including the straight to test pathway. A background in Gynaecology specifically Hysteroscopy and the Post-Menopausal Bleeding pathway is essential to be considered for this post. Main duties of the job The post holder will work with the multi-disciplinary team to deliver safe, effective and timely care and treatment to adults referred on the Post-Menopausal Bleeding Pathway. The post spans two specialities – Gynaecology and Gynaecology Oncology service. The post holder will triage referrals, participate in nurse-led clinics to assess, investigate, refer to other healthcare professionals as necessary and will follow the Post-Menopausal Bleeding pathway. The aim of this pathway is to give patients an answer as to if their symptoms are the result of cancer or not within 28 days of referral where cancer is suspected in accordance with the Faster Diagnostic Standard. The post holder will be required to undertake nurse led clinics independently with remote supervision from the wider MDT. They will be part of the MDT process to discuss cases where abnormalities are found and those entering the cancer pathway in collaboration with the Gynaecology CNS. They will also be required to interface with the HRT clinics run in the outpatient setting for follow up of eligible women.
