About the employer

The Employer is a young lady living with her dad in their family home in Wellingborough. The Employer has a learning disability and Downs Syndrome.

The Employer has hypotonia (low muscle tone), which affects her mobility, stamina, and balance. This means she is unable to walk long distances, may tire easily and is at increased risk of falls. She requires close supervision when walking both inside and outside the home to ensure her safety.

The Employer has an older sister who provides additional support. A medium sized dog also lives at the family home. No pet care is involved in this role.

The Employer is mostly non‑verbal and relies on a combination of gestures, limited spoken words and familiar routines.

The PA is to provide support with toileting routines, supervision, and hand hygiene (the Employer is doubly incontinent and wears pads). To administer medication in the morning.

The Employer will need her PA’s support with everything including drinks, meals, and toileting. The PA will have patience and gently prompt the Employer throughout the day.

The Employer particularly enjoys watching films, especially Disney movies with princess characters. The Employer prefers using her iPad rather than watching television and she is able to navigate to familiar content by recognising visual icons or words.

The PA may be asked to complete some basic housework.

The PA will need to be open to building a trusting, caring role with the Employer and
her family. The PA will need to be flexible and have patience at all times.

Additional employment information

The successful applicant will be friendly, and able to give empathetic support.

A car owner and full licence holder is preferred.

You will be required to go through an enhanced DBS check, cost borne by the Employer.

If applying through Indeed, please be aware that you will then need to complete and submit an application form via a link, to the North Northamptonshire Council website, that will be sent directly to you by PBSS.

Please note you will be directly employed by the person (or their representative) that you will be assisting. The Council is not the employer.

Sponsorship cannot be provided by individual employers. Your right to work in the UK must be confirmed already.
