Summary

East of England Community Health & Care Trust (EEC) provides community Paediatric services across the East of England. Cambridgeshire Community Paediatrics provides a wide range of neurodevelopmental and neuro-disability services in Cambridgeshire as well as a Monday to Friday child protection/ safeguarding service and Child in Care Service across both Cambridge and Peterborough. Our Trust provides Childrens services in Bedford, Cambridgeshire, Luton, Milton Keynes, Peterborough, Norfolk and Waveney. There will be exciting opportunities to develop services across the East of England for Children and Young People together. Job Purpose To join the Cambridgeshire & Peterborough Community Paediatric Team to understand and assess the health needs of children and young people who are Looked After /In Care (including those who are being considered for adoption) in Peterborough. To identify health needs and develop appropriate health plans. Develop and deliver the community neurodevelopmental/neuro disability paediatric services based in and around the North of Cambridgeshire i.e. Wisbech and Fenland areas. Contribute to the safeguarding medical rota, which is currently based at the Oaktree Centre in Huntingdon, this is a 5 day non urgent medical rota of 1 in 10. We would also consider candidates who were looking for more flexible working, if this could be accommodated within the service Main Duties and Responsibilities Undertake statutory CIC (Looked after Children) / adoption health assessments including those with complex healthcare needs principally based in Peterborough but to support where needed CiC work in Cambridgeshire. Formulate meaningful individual healthcare plan/adoption report. Advise other agencies regarding the health management of individual looked after children Contribute to the child protection medical service which runs across C&P but is based at the Oaktree Centre in Huntingdon. This is a non-urgent service which runs Monday to Friday, it does not include child sexual abuse Support neurodevelopmental and Neurodisability pathways of care in the north of the County. Communication The post holder will, be expected to have excellent communication skills both spoken and written to allow effective communication within a team of clinical and non-clinical staff in both health, education and social care. They will be expected to work with in multi-disciplinary teams including: Community team, paediatricians, psychologists, therapist and community nurses Educational colleagues, SEND, SENCOs, Educational Psychologists Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) colleagues Acute paediatric colleagues Social services People Management Maintaining own professional development via annual appraisal. Teaching and supervision of trainees, including medical students from the University of Cambridge and Paediatric Specialty Trainees from the Eastern Deanery as well as trainees from other allied health professions. Support good medical practice through clinical supervision, education and training, reviews of safety and quality, team working and clinical leadership. Research & Development Activity The post-holder will be encouraged to undertake research and service development and evaluation as part of their clinical practice and CPD with support from the CCS Research Team. CCS is research active and there are many opportunities to develop research interest both within CCs and with other agencies. There are regular internal CPD activities for clinical staff and multi-disciplinary training with colleagues from other professional groups disciplines and external agencies. There is an active Community Paediatric Clinical network across the East of England and regular education meetings and forum through Cambridge University Hospital (CUH) Foundation Trust Clinical and Practice Governance Observe and maintain strict confidentiality with regards to any patient/family/staff/records and information in line with the requirements of the Data Protection Act. Any data that is taken/shared as part of a phone call or transported, faxed or transferred electronically must be undertaken regarding the Trust Information Governance and Information Security policies. The post holder must adhere to the Trust risk assessment and risk management processes The post holder must adhere to infection control policies and procedures It is a condition of your employment that you are currently registered with GMC, and it is your responsibility to maintain your professional registration. Undertake mandatory training and any other training relevant to the role as required by Cambridgeshire Community Services NHS Trust. The post holder must participate in clinical and safeguarding audits as required The post holder is required to participate in relevant emergency preparedness process for their team.
