Your new role
My client is recruiting for a Conveyancing Legal Secretary/Assistant, joining a small and experienced support team. The role will be carrying out day-to-day conveyancing tasks including:

  • File opening, initial checks and setting up case files.
  • Searches and enquiries, ordering local authority searches, and helping prepare or chase replies to enquiries.
  • Drafting and preparing documents and other standard forms.
  • Liaising with parties, communicating with clients, estate agents, mortgage lenders, other solicitors, and surveyors.
  • Managing timelines, tracking key dates such as exchange, completion, mortgage offer expiry, and ensuring tasks are completed on schedule.
  • Handling post exchange and completion tasks.
  • Land Registry and HMRC submissions.
  • General admin - scanning, filing, updating case management systems, and maintaining accurate records.

What you'll need to succeed

  • Previous conveyancing experience is essential for this job.
  • Excellent communication, clear written and verbal communication.
  • Strong organisational ability, juggling multiple files, deadlines, and tasks.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Time management and strong IT skills including CMS, MS Office (Word, Outlook), and online portals (Land Registry etc.).
  • Customer service skills - clients are often stressed during property transactions; being patient, reassuring, and responsive makes a huge difference.
  • Problem-solving mindset, the ability to think ahead and resolve problems quickly.
  • Understanding of AML and compliance.
