Summary
Level 2 Teaching Assistants - SENDLocation: Kingswinford
We are currently recruiting Level 2 Teaching Assistants to work within a specialist SEND school in Kingswinford, supporting children and young people with severe, profound and complex learning needs.
The setting supports pupils with a wide range of needs, including PMLD, SLD, ASD, complex communication needs, sensory processing difficulties and associated medical needs. Many pupils require a high level of adult support throughout the school day to access learning, regulate emotions and engage with their environment.This role is ideal for individuals who are caring, resilient and passionate about supporting pupils with complex needs in a structured and nurturing setting.
The Role Will Involve:
- Supporting pupils 1:1 and in small groups within the classroom and around the school
- Assisting pupils to access learning through sensory‑based, play‑based and functional activities
- Supporting communication using PECS, symbols, visual timetables and objects of reference
- Providing emotional regulation and behaviour support, including support during transitions
- Carrying out personal care where required, including toileting, feeding and hygiene support
- Supporting moving and handling in line with training and care plans
- Assisting pupils during therapy‑led activities such as physiotherapy or sensory integration
- Supporting pupils during lunch, playtimes and life‑skills activities
- Working closely with teachers, SEN staff and external professionals to follow EHCP targets and individual support plans
- Maintaining a safe, calm and inclusive learning environment at all times
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
- A Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent)
- Experience working with SEND, complex needs or within a care setting (desirable, but not essential)
- A calm, patient and compassionate approach
- Confidence supporting pupils with high levels of need, including personal care
- A willingness to complete training, including moving & handling and safeguarding
- The ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team
