We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced nurse to join the Trauma and Orthopaedic Pre Operative team at the Royal Derby Hospital.
We are looking to recruit a dynamic nurse with excellent clinical skills, with a keen interest in the optimisation of patients prior tosurgery to join our team, playing a vital role in delivering effective care for patients undergoing Orthopaedic procedures.
Applicants must have the relevant experience and knowledge of care delivery appropriate to this patient group, be creative, enthusiastic, motivated and have excellent communication skills. Experience and knowledge of working within Trauma and Orthopaedics is essential

• Deliver clinical practice based on policies, guidelines and evidence base to improve the outcomes and experiences of patients
• Provide professional clinical advice and judgements to the multi-professional care team in relation to patient care and achieving positive patient outcomes and experiences
• To deliver safe, effective high-quality care with compassion, dignity and respect
• To conduct clinical examinations of patients cardiovascular, respiratory and a musculoskeletal system, escalating abnormities to the medical team.
• Liaise with the medical team regarding patients who may require medical interventions prior to surgery
• To order investigations, including radiological investigations reflecting
the Trust pre-operative guidelines and / or clinical needs.
• To interpret investigation results against agreed protocols
• To liaise with consultant anaesthetists regarding any potential anaesthetic challenges
• To work autonomously, managing a defined caseload of pre- admission patients with varying levels of complexity
• To complete accurate medical history taking, including medications and identifying contraindications of medications with surgery / anaesthesia
