SGVI has an international reputation for the treatment of complex aortic disease and innovative endovascular therapy for both thoracic and abdominal aortic aneurysms. There is an extensive endovascular program, which is one of the largest in the UK and involves fenestrated and branch endovascular technology. The Institute also has a well-established carotid practice with support from a multi-disciplinary team of neurologists and stroke physicians.

The treatment of lower limb peripheral vascular disease is assuming a greater focus within the Institute, with the development of an endovascular practice using the newest technologies. Endovascular treatment of patients with lower limb peripheral vascular disease is undertaken by both vascular surgeons and interventional radiologists with a vascular interest.

St George’s University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust serves a population of 1.3 million across south-west London. A large number of services, such as cardiothoracic medicine and surgery, neurosciences, vascular and renal transplantation, also cover significant populations from Surrey and Sussex, totalling around 3.5 million people.
