Summary
Job Summary
The Gurdwara requires a Religious Worker to support daily religious activities and assist the Head Granthi in delivering religious services to the congregation. The role is primarily supportive in nature and involves assisting in Kirtan, preparation of religious services, and helping with community religious activities. The position ensures smooth day-to-day functioning of religious services while maintaining Sikh traditions.________________________________________
Main Duties and Responsibilities
• Assist the Head Granthi and senior Ragis in conducting daily religious services
• Assist in performing Gurbani Kirtan as part of the Ragi Jatha
• Play Tabla and Harmonium to support Kirtan programmes
• Assist in recitation of Gurbani and Shabad during religious services
• Support arrangements for Akhand Path and other religious programmes
• Assist with Ardaas during daily prayers and special occasions under supervision
• Assist in preparing the Darbar Sahib and maintaining cleanliness of prayer areas
• Help with respectful preparation and placement of Guru Granth Sahib Ji
• Assist in organising Gurpurabs and religious events
• Assist in performing religious ceremonies including birth and death rites under supervision
• Support congregation members with general religious queries
• Assist in teaching basic Gurbani recitation and Kirtan to children and community members
• Support visiting Ragi Jathas and religious guests during programmes
• Assist in organising Kirtan schedules and prayer programmes
• Participate in outreach religious programmes organised by the Gurdwara
• Support Langar preparation and general community service activities when required
• Maintain discipline and respectful environment within the Gurdwara premises
• Assist visitors and members of Sangat attending the Gurdwara
• Help maintain musical instruments including Tabla and Harmonium
• Assist with administrative tasks related to religious services such as booking ceremonies
• Carry out general duties assigned by the Head Granthi or Gurdwara Committee________________________________________
Skills, Experience and Qualifications Required
• Practising Sikh with understanding of Sikh religious practices
• Basic ability to perform Gurbani Kirtan as part of a Ragi Jatha
• Ability to play Tabla and Harmonium to support Kirtan programmes
• Understanding of Sikh Maryada and religious customs
• Experience participating in Kirtan programmes in a Gurdwara preferred
• Ability to work respectfully with Granthi, committee members and Sangat
• Willingness to work flexible hours including weekends and religious festivals
• Good interpersonal and communication skills
• Commitment to supporting religious and community activities
