Enabler / Support Worker – Alnwick Area
Supporting a Young Adult with Autism and OCD
A friendly, thoughtful young man living in the Alnwick area is looking for a reliable and caring enabler/support worker to provide 6 hours of support per week.
This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who enjoys helping young people build confidence, develop independence and access their local community.
Hours of Work:
6 hours per week
Ideally two sessions of 3 hours each week
Afternoons preferred, though days can be flexible
Rate of Pay:
£14.67 per hour
About the Role:
The role involves providing enabling support to a young adult with Autism and chronic OCD, helping him to feel confident and supported when socialising and accessing the local community. Support will be provided on a one-to-one basis, using a person-centred approach and respecting individual routines and preferences.
Main Duties:
Supporting the young man to socialise and access the local community
Accompanying him on outings and visits to places of interest
Supporting access to local groups or activities
Encouraging independence and wellbeing
Building a positive and trusting working relationship
Experience and Requirements:
Experience of working with young people with autism is preferred
A driver with access to their own car is preferred (business insurance required)
Personal Specification:
Honest, reliable and caring nature
Punctual and trustworthy
Able to respect confidentiality at all times
Understanding and patient approach
Further Information:
An Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check will be required, paid for by the employerTraining:
Where required, including health and safety training, guidance and support will be provided. The successful candidate will be expected to attend training as arranged.
