Support Manager

Learning Disabilities & Autism | West Berkshire (Newbury)

Salary: £39,917.94 | Full‑time (37.5 hours per week)

Our client, a well‑established supported living provider, is recruiting an experienced Support Manager to lead services supporting adults with learning disabilities, autism, and complex needs across West Berkshire. This is a visible, operational leadership role covering three supported living services in Newbury, with full accountability for quality, compliance, and staff leadership.

Key responsibilities and requirements include:

• Operational leadership of three supported living services supporting 12 adults
• Direct line management of approximately 22 FTE staff (no Deputy Manager in post)
• Ensuring delivery of safe, high‑quality, person‑centred support aligned with CQC expectations
• Oversight of support planning, risk management, safeguarding, and incident response
• Managing recruitment, inductions, rotas, supervision, performance, and staff development
• Driving positive team culture, engagement, and retention across services
• Building effective relationships with families, commissioners, social workers, and health professionals
• Maintaining accurate records and ensuring full regulatory and contractual compliance
• Regular onsite presence across services and the Newbury office (this is not a hybrid role)
• Participation in the out‑of‑hours on‑call rota as a first‑level manager
Full UK driving licence and access to own vehicle; must live within one hour of West Berkshire

This opportunity would suit an experienced Support Manager, Service Manager, or Registered Manager (or someone ready to step up) with a strong background in learning disabilities and autism services. Our client offers autonomy, manageable service size, and the chance to have a genuine impact within a values‑driven supported living organisation. Applications are handled confidentially by the recruiting agency.
