Summary

The Opportunity
We are recruiting for an experienced Area Commissioning Team Leader (ACTL) to support the delivery of a major, high-hazard engineering project within a regulated environment.
This is a key leadership role responsible for managing commissioning activities across designated systems and ensuring safe, compliant transition from construction through to operational handover.
You will lead a multi-disciplinary commissioning team and play a critical role in delivering commissioning scope in line with programme, cost, and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead commissioning activities across assigned plant/systems, ensuring delivery aligns with project strategy and programme
- Act as a senior safety leader, driving a strong safety culture and maintaining a focus on Zero Harm across all activities
- Oversee and support commissioning walkdowns, inspections, and “Leader in the Field” safety engagements
- Manage the preparation, review, and approval of commissioning test documentation (IPC/ISC)
- Control and coordinate commissioning test execution, including witnessing, recording, and results validation
- Provide regular progress updates and reports to senior commissioning management
- Maintain accurate and timely reporting of all commissioning activities
- Manage and present daily progress via Line of Sight (LOS) boards, highlighting risks and issues
- Work closely with planning teams to optimise commissioning sequences and maximise delivery efficiency
- Interface with engineering, construction, and project stakeholders to enable timely system handover
- Ensure all commissioning records are captured, maintained, and auditable
- Plan and allocate commissioning resources effectively to meet project demands
- Ensure team competency (SQEP) and compliance with all training and project requirements
- Support integration with wider project processes including design, HAZOP, risk management, and estimating
- Drive continuous improvement across commissioning processes and delivery

Essential Experience & Qualifications

- Proven commissioning experience in a leadership role within highly regulated environments (e.g. nuclear, energy, or similar)
- Strong background in systems commissioning, with a control systems bias
- Experience managing commissioning teams, including engineers and technicians
- Familiarity with completions/commissioning management systems (e.g. GoCompletions or similar)
- Engineering qualification (HNC/HND or Degree in a relevant discipline)
- Good understanding of project management principles (APM membership desirable)
- IOSH Managing Safely (or equivalent)
- CSCS card (or equivalent)

Systems & Tools

- Completions Management Systems (e.g. GoCompletions)
- Microsoft Office Suite
