This post is based at West London Children’s Healthcare WLCH at the St Mary’s Hospital site, which is situated in the heart of Paddington, West London. This means we are accessible to major transport routes and this prime location will allow you to visit the all the capital has to offer.
The Children Services at Imperial College NHS Trust is aligned with the paediatric care provision at Chelsea and Westminster and West Middlesex Hospitals. The post holder will be part of a multi-disciplinary team putting the service values of these three hospitals at the center of their practice.
We are looking for a Healthcare Assistant; with experience or an interest in Paediatric Haematology and who is ready to undertake more role responsibilities. The successful applicant will join a multidisciplinary team of skilled and highly motivated staff who provide quality care to children with a variety of conditions.
If you are committed to caring for children and families and have the appropriate level of training with additional skills in venepuncture and cannulation, we would want to hear from you.
• To work as part of a team providing clinical care, stock maintenance and administrative support to Grand Union Ward under the supervision of a registered nurse.
• To carry out care and treatment tasks, delegated from professionally qualified nursing and medical staff, requiring a wide range of technical ability, numeracy and literacy skills as well as a significant level of interpersonal skills.
• To supervise less experienced staff in the clinical area, ensuring patient focused care is always delivered.
To ensure the assigned clinical areas are tidy and ordered at all times and maintain the hygiene and cleanliness of the environment.
• To ensure that all necessary information is available for the service to operate effectively and to record clinical activity and outcomes using the appropriate hospital systems.
• To work as part of a team providing clinical, phlebotomy, stock maintenance and administrative support to the Paediatric Haematology Day Unit under the supervision of a registered nurse.
• To carry out care and treatment tasks, delegated from professionally qualified nursing and medical staff, requiring a wide range of technical ability, numeracy and literacy skills as well as a significant level of interpersonal skills.
• To supervise less experienced staff in the clinical area, ensuring patient focused care is always delivered.
• To ensure the assigned clinical areas are tidy and ordered at all times and maintain the hygiene and cleanliness of the environment.
