Summary
Are you highly organised, digitally confident, and passionate about supporting communities, local places, and businesses? We’re looking for a proactive Place Assistant to join our dynamic Place Team and help deliver projects and activities that make our towns, communities, and visitor economy thrive.
As a Place Assistant, you’ll play an essential role in supporting the delivery of place-based initiatives, destination marketing, business and community engagement, and events.
You’ll provide high‑quality administrative and digital support, helping to coordinate work across councils, local partners, community groups, businesses, and—at times—arts and cultural programmes, including activity linked to National Portfolio Organisation (StoryTellers).
No two days will be the same—one day you may be handling digital content for a visitor campaign, and the next you might be supporting the delivery of a local event.
What You’ll Be Doing
Providing day‑to‑day administrative and financial support (raising orders, processing invoices, preparing agendas and reports)
Helping collect, organise and present data such as website analytics, footfall and engagement figures
Supporting business and community engagement, including forums, workshops and enquiries
Assisting with planning and delivery of local events, festivals and place‑based projects
Maintaining and updating websites, social media content and newsletters
Helping deliver marketing materials and destination promotion campaigns
Working with partners, suppliers, and community organisations to ensure smooth project delivery
